DIY Beauty: Nicky Dare’s Skin care tips & recipes

Hello beautiful Divas !
I am humbly excited to be able to share some of my very personal homemade tips and recipes, DIY beauty treatments, which I have used myself. To those who know me, I am a very active outdoor enthusiast Nerd, exposed to different if not, extreme, weather conditions…from roling around on the dirt on the rifle range during extreme desert heat in August or frozen winter in December, or 4-wheeling up on mountain terrains, or mountain hiking under hail or thunderstorm, or water adventures of deep sea fishing and diving and snorkeling, the fun list goes on … all outdoor adventures SPFs ! Maintaining my being a ‘girlie’ and now called a ‘grandmom’, that is truly as the saying goes “it comes with the territory”. Nevertheless, I must admit that I am a helpless fan to spas and spoiled treatments of which we all busy women often need, than want. From all the years I visited different spas and became friends to many of my very own regular facial specialist, and many other talented artists in the industry, I have gained much knowledge of my own personal skin needs. We just do not have enough time to do this at home, so we rather spend money for someone else to do this for us. Here are some of my homemade recipes, using organic fruits and vegetables from my very own garden, to share with you all.

Enjoy !

DIY recipes and oils essentials

Almond Oil
Almond oil is a popular essential oil commonly used in aromatherapy and is suitable for most skin types.

Almond oil is rich in vitamin A, B and E, which are great for skin health, as well as for hair.

• Reduces dark circles
• Removes Impurities
• Removes Dead Skin Cells
• Radiant skin
• Make up remover
• Smooth dry feet
• Treats hair split ends
• Reduces scalp inflammation
• Hair shine enhancer

For many reasons, this makes it one of my favorite essential oils.

A simple almond oil recipe for enhancing skin health and its glow.
Ingredients:
1 tablespoon almond oil
1 tablespoon honey
1/2 avocado
Procedure:
Mash the avocado and mix in all the ingredients to form a puree.
Apply the mix to the skin evenly on all areas.
Leave it on for 15-20 minutes. Rinse well with warm water and pat dry.

Store the remaining unused portion to the refrigerator for later application.

Coconut Oil
One of my favorite cooking oil I use often, besides Olive Oil, is Coconut Oil. However many of us are not aware other amazing benefits this oil has! Coconut oil has been proven to have a whole range of health benefits. It has been found to improve heart health, increase metabolism rate, promote lean body mass, manage type 2 diabetes and support the immune system.

• Energy booster
• Hair and scalp treatment
• Make up remover
• Facial moisturizer
• and many other health benefits

Lemon & Coconut Oil Moisturizer
What: Lemon and Coconut Oil Moisturizer
What you will need: bowl,
Ingredients:
4 tbsp coconut oil
2 lemons, squeezed
Option
Add your favorite 1 tbsp of oil such as Virgin Olive Oil, lavender Oil, etc.

Simple instructions: Mix all ingredients in a bowl. Apply on a clean face. Leave on.

Store the remaining unused portion to the refrigerator for later application.

Tomato scrub
What: Tomato Scrub
What you will need: bowl, masher, towel
Ingredients:
• 1 Tomato
• 1 spoonful of Sugar, white or brown
• 1 tbsp of Virgin Olive Oil

Simple instructions:
Pick a tomato off your garden 🙂 Okay, many of you probably have to buy one from the store.
Two ways you can apply: in a masher or simply cut tomato into 1/2.
Mix all ingredients in a masher. OR Cut in half and dip into a bowl of olive oil and sugar.
Paste the mix OR press 1/2 tomato onto your face.
Make circular motion throughout your face, cheeks, forehead, and neck. (this can also work to combat acne!)
Wait for 10-15 minutes.
Rinse with warm water.
Pat dry with towel.

Store the remaining unused portion to the refrigerator for later application.

Oatmeal Facial Mask
What: Facial Oatmeal
What you will need: bowl, masher, salad spoon towel
Ingredients:
• 1/2 cup Oatmeal, cooked
• 2 tbsp Honey
• 1 tbsp ground Cinnamon
• 2 tbsp Milk
• 1 salad spoon*

Simple instructions:
Mix all well in a small bowl, make sure your hands and face are clean:) before pasting this on your face.
I recommend to lay down when pasting this on your face.
Leave on 30 minutes to 1 hour (I prefer 30 minutes).
Rinse off with warm water.
Pat dry with towel.

*I recommend using the Back of the spoon to paste this oatmeal mix onto your face.

Note: Thicker paste is better, and more effective.
And try not to eat this while on your face, I know, I sometimes can not resist as well 🙂 For first few minutes, your skin will feel ‘tingling’ but it will all calm down and skin will feel ‘tightened’ throughout the process.
Yes, your skin will THANK YOU.

Store the remaining unused portion to the refrigerator for later application.
